This hand and body lotion is what I throw together about four times a year and use everyday.
Ready-made lotions, even the healthy ones, don’t seem to have enough Ooomph! to work all day like this one does.
One of the first signs of my above-45 status was that richer hand and body lotions became necessary to keep my skin hydrated. For years, I swore by certain, well-known lotions that I slathered on and rubbed in every morning to combat the decades of living that had started to show. The more I learn about essential oils, the more I love to use them!
I use a variety of essential oils on a daily basis for various things. Now that I’ve spent about two years poking and prodding to see if they really work (they do!), I wouldn’t consider managing my day without them. Actually, I’ve been playing with oils (tea tree oil, patchouli, jasmine, sandalwood) off and on for two decades with little understanding of what power I’ve had in my hands!
Lemon essential oil is almost always on my counter since I use it for so many things. At this very moment, I am sitting next to a glass of water with 1 drop of lemon essential oil* for both taste and health benefits. I also add a couple of slices of cucumber because I like how these two refreshing tones boost each other. The flavor lasts all day even as I refill my glass, time and time again, to stay hydrated.

For a few days, the refrigerator had been smelling inappropriate. Not bad, really. Just not right. Like biting into a Granny Smith apple expecting a spurt of deliciously sour juice and instead tasting grilled rib-eye steak. Great taste, wrong situation.
Sleepy time sprays using essential oils have been on my radar for awhile now. But the MIY’s (Make it Yourself’s) and mixes I’ve found are geared toward children. Not a bedtime spray for grown ups to be found. At least not where I’ve been looking.
As you know, we are on the other side of raising children. While children’s sprays work well enough for adults, I’ve been searching for something really geared toward those of us who are of an “experienced” age …. Continue reading “Bedtime Spray for Grown Ups”
Here’s another MIY that is So Easy, it makes complete sense to go ahead and make it yourself.
We stopped using “antibacterial” soaps and cleansers years ago to do our part toward fighting those nasty Super Bugs that are now all the rage. So we went with regular soaps at all of our sinks and in our showers.
By then, I had started becoming aware of their unfortunate ingredients. So, while I wasn’t in a hurry to make my own hand wash, I was open to trying it out.
